There’s still the Saturday strip coming which will wrap this up. I’m guessing Ann leaves but with a veiled threat from her that they haven’t seen the last of her…
How does this play out? My prediction: After Ann hits the bricks, Tiff tells her dad about all the important lessons she has learned about relying on herself. She’ll always love her dad, but she’s going to keep her job at the fuse, and make her own way, and try to become the success she knows she can be.
okay i was wrong in yesterday’s strip as i looked at it wrong i didn’t notice that she had a ring on and that he was taking it off, i have no problem admitting that but to fix that lol it’s about damn time he stuck up for Tiffany. the only thing Ann ever did for Tiffany that she really needed and i think everyone agrees with me on this is to teach her she can’t always relay on Daddy’s Money. so she was making money for herself that is something she did need to be taught. other than that she needs to just freaking Leave, and if Ann does say anything Else i say have Les Pipe in to get her go away even if he has to threaten and bring Al into this or maybe not either way. she really needs to just freaking leave
God gave men a brain and a penis, but only enough blood to operate one at a time.
I’m guessing Ann has seen that routine and is hoping to once again get Tom’s hugely enthusiastic personal traitor and her partner in crime rigidly on her side.
“She’s been right about you all along”…“all along”…since when? fifteen minutes ago? or has Tiffany been talking to her Dad long before that? Somehow I missed that.

Part me thinks Satday’s comic is going to start with Ann backhanding Tiff, cause to Ann that last comment was the straw that broke her back.
Really I’d like to see Tiff finally lay into Ann. Telling Ann that if she hadn’t try so hard to make Tiff’s life miserable with the bullying and rubbing her victories in Tiff’s face, Tiff probably would have step back and let her dad be happy.

Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive. Ann, shrieking: “Shut up, you slovenly, spoiled brat! How dare you come between me and Tommykins!" Tom, sternly: “Don’t you ever threaten my daughter again!” Ann, bewitchingly: "Tommy, you cannot mean this? You know I’ve given you the best years of YOUR life!” Tom, indifferently: “Hit the road, Ann. And don’t you come back, no more, no more, no more…” Ann, scornfully: “YOU WILL REGRET THIS!!!!”
I began to believe the break would dramatically happen for sure day before yesterday, more surely yesterday, and 100% sure today, and all of the fake emotion and efforts of Ann, including the booty call she is clearly hoping will change his mind, is totally convincing—beautiful set-up—but there are two things that emerge today that draws together the arc for me so satisfyingly. First he said MY CHILD, LORD PRESERVE US, what that so and so did to HIS child, and second how Les is drawn from panel 1 and panel and panel 3. He is mad in panel 1, but in panel 3 he looks enraged almost; I think he will be the one to bring his mom down here. He know her darkness, and he really sees how it can hurt his friend and her only family, her dad. He has been the person she goes to in the recent past to commiserate about Ann and her dad. Reinforce hearing that from her own son.
just deserts pl (plural only) (idiomatic) A punishment or reward that is considered to be what the recipient deserved. It may appear that they’re getting ahead by cheating, but they’ll get their just deserts in the end.
Wow, this is getting better and better. Ann is about to start blubbering and Tom is standing tall for once. Tiff is putting her $0.02 in and Les looks like he is about to release a bunch of pent up anger to boot! I can just imagine some of the horror stories that kid can probably tell about Mommie Dearest. I am surprised Mr Grey did not get involved (to our knowledge). As a true Eiffel hater this arc is finally giving me a good hearty laugh. Revenge is a dish best served cold and I guess Tiff and Les (especially Les) have been waiting a long darned time!
I hope Ann does not have access to any of Tom’s financial accounts.
If so, this could get uglier. Also, I hope Tiff learns a life changing lesson, like I mentioned yesterday, the girl grows up and before a responsible adult and not lean on daddy’s money so much. Tuition is one thing, having the most expensive everything is something else.
Gotta give her credit for using the wordplay. She’s been conning him for so long, she must think he really is an idiot. Hell, she had ME convinced Tom was a moron! Each strip has been more delicious than the last and seeing Tom’s face in the last panel makes me happy he’s not being fooled twice. Atta boy, Tom, kick her to the curb!! (Bet Les is also enjoying Ann get hers after so long too).
Better not to leave Ann alone with Tom, or he could leave the room with the face of the man who forgave everything. If Ann go away, I hope Tiffany won’t regress at what she used to be.
One would think that Les would have some feeling for Ann, his mother. But, just as one can be a father just by having sex, it takes a special guy to be a dad. Ann doesn’t have anything but a mean kind of manipulative luv and it’s a wonder that Les learned any kind of loyalty and caring as he wasn’t getting it from Ann. In fact, Les may have been the baby with ultrasound that she used to snag Les’ dad. So, yes, he remains there to gloat over her failure at snagging Tom and it’s his friend, Tiff’s time to finally have victory.
Ann’s slimy tactics have always reminded me of a certain quote by Bram Stoker. “The last I saw of Count Dracula he was his kissing his hand to me, with a red light of triumph in his eyes, and with a smile that Judas in hell might be proud of.” I don’t think I’m the only one who hopes she fails this time.
With Ann leaving, now Tom can beg the staff help to come back. I’m sure they didn’t get fired, but quit because of the way Ann treated them. Chef Justine was probably only there for a couple of hours and was treated well, because Ann doesn’t like to cook.
Wow, all the moods Ann has rotated through the last few strips. looking for one that works on Tom…and now playing the sex card. Tom did just have his heart broken, but he doesn’t seem to be so low in self-esteem that he would fall back into the relationship for sex.
Pleeeeeeze end this story arc. It’s been going on, and on, and on seems like MONTHS. LETS GET back to Luann and her troubles. This has just gotten tedious. Just end this garbage already
Well of course Ann’s going to try every manipulative move she can; Tom’s succumbed before—but I’m glad to see it’s not working this time. And good on HIM for remembering that Tiffany’s put up with a lot as well.
I suspect tomorrow includes a final, uncontrollable outburst at Tiffany by Ann with a cartoon super villain “You havent heard the last of me” ending, and then hopefully we are done with this arc and we can go back to other things. Unless they extend it out by Ann having a final card up her sleaze…um…I mean sleeve.
Luann probably got married and is with child by now for all time we have spend away from her.
Still in desperation mode, Ann is back to what works (or has in the past), the sweet allure of sex. Yet Tom’s glaring eyes are not letting up. But what if there is a baby…now?? ….AARRGGGGGHHH!!!………..no, the “our baby” remark is rhetorical.
Ah, how nice to see Ann get what’s coming to her. I’m sure she wishes she had stayed in Japan now. (If she ever actually went.)
It’s also been interesting follow Tiffany on her journey. When I first encountered Tiff, she was Luann’s bully, and they were both older than me by about 2-4 years. (Now I’m older than both of them by about 2 decades.) I couldn’t stand Tiffany, and used to delight in her failing to hurt Luann and instead hurting herself. However I have not enjoyed watching her suffer in the hands of Ann Awful.
Much has been mentioned of her development through her struggles. What I would like to see in the future from her would be a new approach towards Luann. Maybe stop trying to steal the attention of any fellow she thinks Luann wants/might be interested in Luann?
And speaking of Luann… it would be nice to see how she’s doing. It’s been a while. The last time I remember her being included in the story is when Bets first hit the scene. She’s been trapped in her room since then I guess.
Can’t wait to hear Ann’s parting shot. Will it be a threat to Tom or Tiff, a command to Led, a promise to return?.In any event, Les is getting a good role model in Tom. Les is eating up every word.
Tiffany speaks up at just the right moment! Annie Awful was about to play the ace up her sleeve, her hole card as it were. Even newly-Tough Tom might have cracked if faced with a full-court seduction in the bedroom!
I thought Tiff and Les’s shadow figures yesterday meant they were leaving the room. Guess I was wrong. Cool though. Witnesses…and backup. Don’t falter, Tom. Its for the best.
Soooo, Ann thinks she can get everything back under control with a lil’ “private time” with Tom. More evidence she considers him a sucker for the taking.
A future plot twist: Ann goes away (mercifully), but reappears a year later (in comic strip time) with a toddler in tow, a baby boy that looks a little like Tom…… Aiiieeee!!!!
Thank God this finally happened. Comics are supposed to be relief for a few moments from the chaos of the real world and the oppressiveness of the Ann Eiffel thread was like being stuck in a Ground Hog Day movie about family not only disfunction but hell. We were long overdue for a smile to come out of this forced march of Bataan.
Yeah, something is off. Tiffany has tried on numerous occasions to communicate with Tom. She basically had to build a documented court case with evidence and Les as backup to get him to believe her. Meanwhile, she’s been cleaning up his house. I agree, in no way should he get a pass on this. At the very least, Tiff would be WELL justified given his behavior to simply continue to cut him out of her life on the basis of the lack of trust he’s exhibited in her judgment. “I won’t let you treat me this way Ann. Or my child!” BS Tom. You TOTALLY let Ann treat your child like crap when Tiff called you after she busted Ann at Souffle Lingerie. Your being upset now after Ann treated YOU like crap is you being a self centered jerk. Tiff shouldn’t have to make her problems Tom’s for him to step up and start treating her judgment respectfully, daughter or not.
Also, just for the record, when a woman says can we talk privately, it doesn’t always mean sex. Who knows what Ann has up her sleeve ( probably slime) but don’t trust her enough to write her off with a “give it up woman!”.
While I am appreciative of Tom’s awakening and his firm actions at this point, I feel some discomfort at Tiffany’s line…. “Oh, give it up , Woman!” To me, the manner of expression and the words Tiffany has used are not the way I had hoped Tiffany would respond:
1. To me, the type of response that Tiffany has given makes me feel concern that once Ann is gone, Tiffany will revert mostly back to her “mean-girl, rich-girl” persona from high school. It just feels that way to me by the words she spoke.
2. If Tiffany reverts back to the “mean-girl, rich-girl” persona instead of continuing to grow into the nuanced, somewhat more aware, somewhat more introspective person she has gradually become…. I think this would be a significant loss in the long run for her.
Hopefully the above is NOT Greg’s intent. But, in my manner of thinking, Tom’s words were strong enough and clear enough towards Ann, that Ann’s feeble, last gasp attempt to change Tom’s mind through his libidinous region…. did not need Tiffany chiming in. That Tiffany did chime in with those words seems like Tiffany is feeling she has regained her power and her “throne” and can act like her old mean-girl self.
To me, this day’s panels would have been more satisfying if Tiffany had simply stayed an observer today and we read her emotions via her facial expressions.
Tom continues to be rehabed (retcon-ed?) into a new character/creature.
I talked about this when his face first appeared on returning from the cabin. His first statement with a face was that he missed his daughter! I commented at that time the face and behavior of NEW DADDY was a signal that 1) we would see more of daddy Tom in the future and 2) NEW DADDY would interact with Tiff in a more kindly manner; dare I say more parental.
Indeed an arc involving Tom, Tiffany and Les could be a settling into a story trio. Both have needed something closer to a real father.
I am wondering if Tom is aware that Ann cut off Tiffany’s allowance by destroying her cards. Or maybe he is aware that Tiff isn’t spending anything and Ann just explained it as Tiff refusing her father’s help because she was jealous of his new love. A way to put a wedge between father and daughter.
I am not absolving Tom of his behavior towards Tiffany, and Tom may have never appeared as a caring parent, but we don’t know his background as to why he is this way. Tom also could have been deeply shocked when Tiffany’s mom left, and ceased to care about things. Also, lawyers are supposed to stifle their emotions and maybe Tom took that too far by extending it out of work and into family. Some men are far more in love with their jobs than their family. There is so much that has not been revealed, and we don’t know what conversations went on away from the strip. Tom has NOT been, in a lot of our opinions, a caring father, maybe he did not know how to care. Love of a child and love of an adult are different. Tom apparently became even more blind after Ann came along, and somewhat selfish in taking care of his own needs and neglecting his daughter even more. All that being said, and if you still follow my train of thought, I reserve judgement on Tom until I hear more backstory. He really could have had an epiphany and realized how he neglected his daughter. As for Ann, she may be in for a really rude awakening when Tiffany discusses in detail all the crap Ann pulled with Tiffany’s friends. After all, Tom is a lawyer, and may finally put Ann where she belongs, out of this strip. I have hopes father and daughter will begin to know each other again, this time on a very different level. Only time will tell.
If they can ever get this clinging heifer out of the house, I sense a redeemed, better relationship between Tom and Tiffany… and a future screaming match between Ann and Les.
Ann is not over with scamming people, just keep her away from the main characters, really sick of her devious ways being focused in Luann. I think we may l hear more of her new scams in the background through Les though and maybe eventually her karma, what we all hope will happen with people like her. Comics should be fun reading, not a downer.Looking forward to reading about Luann and family…
when a woman’s own SON reveals her scam and won’t say anything in her defense that is a GIANT red flag, it actually might be at least 2 red flags flown at the same time.
I am so happy that a con artist got what is due to her! Yes, there will be revenge unless Uncle Al steps in, unless…..Uncle Al is the “ghost” skeemer in all of this. On another note, isn’t it interesting how long this particular arc has gone on? Usually after two or three weeks the characters change. This has been building for awhile. Hmmm….will Luann be in a relationship with Jack when she returns or will Quill suddenly reappear. Only G & K know!!
Is it at all possible that Ann might now be pregnant? The “our baby thing is weird.”
The only thing I think completely rules it out is her not pulling the “I’m pregnant now and if you don’t marry me I’ll get you for child support” card.
I think she’ll go away for a while, then come back going after the Fuse. Luann’s mom kicked her out recently, and by going after it she can ruin (or attempt to) Tiffany, TJ and Luann’s mom all in one fell swoop. Slip and fall? Food poisoning?
Tomorrow, we see Ann leave the manse in a huff. Whether she threatens or slaps Tiff is moot. The final panel of tomorrow’s strip will see her pulling into a watering hole that is not the Fuse. Remember my prediction about a drunken Ann behind the wheel, and that Jonah is likely going to be whom she crashes into. This thus extends her villainy to yet more characters in the strip, and serves to provide the ultimate removal of her and Jonah. It also sets up Brad and Toni to adopt Shannon, which many long-timers around here have seen coming.
After 829 comments yesterday, Ann’s story has drawn over 600 today. That’s heady atmosphere for this strip, and a good reason why Ann will be back, and Tiff will continue to be featured.
The interface for this web site could use some work. While reading through the comments, I found some I would like to reply to. I clicked on the sign in link and was not only kicked out of the thread, but kicked out of the entire comic, ending up on a page boasting about gocomics at large.
Now I apparently have to drill down through the entire web site, first finding my comic, then it’s comments and then laboriously going through the comments one by one until I some how once again come across the comment I wanted to reply to.
Nota bene: if you are looking for a forum for your comic, before you end up here, you might want to quiz the sales staff about why their reader interface is so hostile to actual readers.

If so, this could get uglier. Also, I hope Tiff learns a life changing lesson, like I mentioned yesterday, the girl grows up and before a responsible adult and not lean on daddy’s money so much. Tuition is one thing, having the most expensive everything is something else.

With Ann leaving, now Tom can beg the staff help to come back. I’m sure they didn’t get fired, but quit because of the way Ann treated them. Chef Justine was probably only there for a couple of hours and was treated well, because Ann doesn’t like to cook.

ACTIVIST1234 over 4 years ago

Tiff shouldn’t have to make her problems Tom’s for him to step up and start treating her judgment respectfully, daughter or not.
astahl2003 over 4 years ago

Both have needed something closer to a real father.
cabalonrye over 4 years ago
I am wondering if Tom is aware that Ann cut off Tiffany’s allowance by destroying her cards. Or maybe he is aware that Tiff isn’t spending anything and Ann just explained it as Tiff refusing her father’s help because she was jealous of his new love. A way to put a wedge between father and daughter.
mavinminx over 4 years ago
