I was worried yesterday that G&K were using this as an excuse to write Bets out of the strip. This is what I predicted & hoped would happen. I’m so glad Bets will continue to be a big part of the strip.

Bets was ready to give up, but Gunther isn’t. Good on him for standing up for them!

So does this mean this storyarc is going for another week? This Halloween party is lasting until Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Dinner with Irma? I think Bets ought to fork out a Thanksgiving Dinner for all the people who have supported her — Tiffany, Luann, Dez, TJ, Ox even Leslie — but NOT at Irma’s

Allright, Gunther manned up and stood his ground. Nice assist by Luann as well.

Looks like a Thanksgiving arc for Monday.

But what? Maybe Bern goes back home for Thanksgiving dinner with her family and asks Ben if he is ever moving out or Brad and Toni plan a romantic holiday when Jonah drops Shannon off for the umpteenth time or do Nancy, TJ and Frank serve Thanksgiving dinner at the Fuse for those with no other place to go such as Bern (no visiting Ben) Piro/Walt, Tara, those on Hall A from Mooney not going home or even Tiff as Pa Farrell will probably be closing a deal many time zones away, etc……

Of course. As I said yesterday they’d make up. How droll. I think Bets will just go back to her old ways. That’s who she is. Perhaps the second time around, Gunther will come to realize either he accepts Bets for who she is – she comes first in everything and he’s ok with that or break up with her. Right now he is just glad she is back.

I guess, maybe, they might, could, probably get back together? I’m gonna lie down, I just got dizzy.

Luann has certainly matured, helping Bets and Gun stay together!

So are we entering a new chapter of the Bets and Gunther romance? I do want them to stay together. Relationships grow, and sometimes they pass the 50 year mark. Sure they are young, and they will have ups and downs, but I like that picture of an elderly Bets and Gun with their grandchildren that Bets imagined when Tiffany got them back together.

I’m afraid Beb01 might be right, and Bets is actually annoyed at Gunther for talking about them with Luann. I hope I’m wrong, but tomorrow might bring an explosion of anger at Gunther from Bets about that — which is ironic, since talking about their private life with others is exactly what SHE does…

Oh for Beb’s sake, will somebody PLEASE make up Bets’ “mind” for her??

Because as much as I LOVE the Clash, Bets “flip-flopping” has got “Shall I stay or shall I go?” ringing in My head on a continuous loop!

On a positive note, it does look like two of Gunny’s Real “True Friends” are in his corner, backing him up: Wing Women Tiffany and Luann.

Oh.

And condolences to those wanting a new arc.

Looks like this one may go through at least next week.

Knew it was too good to be true

Bets streamed their relationship live whenever she wanted to. Is she actually complaining that Gunther talked f2f with one person about his life?

Okay, that’s it. Now the young couple can slip off and get their matching tattoos that they’ll both regret in a year or so.

Bets got cold feet once before – when she stranded Gunther in a restaurant and disappeared for weeks? months? Upon return, Bets blamed it on her insecurity and fear of losing. It seems like the same monster this time around. It’s time for Bets to say something about her background – likely pain that she manages to hide most of the time.

Kinda weak conclusion to a very zigzagging bunch of events. Im not really liking how the whole heap of issues is blamed on entirely on the haters/fans. Certainly it’s a factor, but I’m not sure how their mutual passive aggressive view of each other’s differences (or the fact they literally didn’t find it in them to say they were happy earlier) is the fault of people saying mean comments online.

And Bets only just deleted the blog, and possibly (given the Evanses kinda get vague sometimes) her whole online presence as an influencer/cosplay girl. She’s addicted to the dopamine rush of getting online praise, it ain’t going to be a picnic going cold turkey.

Also I dunno if Bets would be as happy to hear that Gunther was constantly talking about her when most of it was spiked with unapologetic underlying resentment towards Bets for having a zeal for traveling and chasing excitement.

Bets looks very pleased that Gunther told Luann about their relationship. And Bernice’s notes will prove the truth (I hope),

So…Bets and Gunther will reunite, and everyone is happy—except that b!tch Stef, who will be totally disgraced, dumped by Kip, and kicked off the cheerleading squad, and maybe even expelled from Mooney Uni!! Oh, and also Irma, who will likely tear her hair out over her “baby’s” reunion with (GASP!) a woman of COLOR!!

Happy ending!! Cigars all around!!

Go Luann!

Bravo Gunther! He didn’t just accept Bets’ decision and stop her from leaving. He’s impressed by how Bets deleted their account and is sure that things between them could go better now. Bets finally realizes that Luann is just a friend and he only loves her. Fantastic! This strip changes, everything and saves the couple. It also shows a better Gunther and I love that. This would be a great way to close out the Halloween arc. Where Gunther and Bets faced their fears.

Yes. Gun cares for you that much. Go ahead and kiss-n-makeup already. Lets get on with more insane Bets-n-Gun adventures with close calls and fun!!!

Read between the lines. Bets now know that Gunther has spent a lot of time with Luann while she was gone!

So Bets was also assuming they were a couple. Which makes the (apparently suspended) breakup make sense.

But if “Bets and Gun” are a thing again, will she be able to stop herself from turning it into a Social Network thing?

Judging from the slight smile on her face, I’d say she’s going to take him back. Good 4 her.

You don’t need validation from fans to feel loved. What matters, is that you’re loved by someone you see in real life, such as Gunther.

Seems like Gunther should have taken that board off by now, but maybe he likes having his “armor” on under the circumstances!

This is a good ending to the story. Now Bets can get a normal job (maybe at the Fuse), they can keep dating, finish school and then eventually get a place together. Luann and Bets can be best friends and Les can get another kitty!

Wow, Bets is becoming less and less appealing more she is written into the storylines, more than Steph. Hope it can move on soon. Halloween was almost a month ago, and Bets is coming back to school, what the heck?

I suspect a problem. Bett’s asks, “You talked to Luann about us?” Bett’s consider their relationship to be private, out of bounds for others to see, except when she’s blabbing it all on her media site. But, telling all to an old friend, the one he came with to the party, no matter how many times he said, “we’re not a couple”, could be too much for the immature Betts to wrap her head around. And, certainly not understand and forgive. We’ll see.

SUNDAY: Frank and Nancy are confused. :-/

And the beat goes on, as they say. Gunther is going to be under that domineering thumb of hers for the rest of his life, apparently. “Children learn what they live; Children live what they learn”.

I still can’t believe that Luann knows that 50 and 50 makes 100.

I don’t understand how Bets thinks the fans came between her and Gunther. They are strangers on the internet, not real people in their actual lives. Sad if Bets really believes strangers on the internet have any effect on her life.

This is a real twist on this arc. Will Luann FINALLY help Bets to realize her value to Gunther? I hope so. If Bets truly gives up the BetsNGun site she will become more likable to a lot of people. Her social media obsession is her worst feature. Maybe once she deals with it as well as her jealousy regarding Luann they can all be friends and move forward in life. I think Bets is good for Gunther in many ways, much better than either Tiffany or Luann.

my neck is sore, all this whiplash….. phew! Gun is being assertive in matters that are important to him i.e his relationship with Bets which i think will be stronger going forward. The overarching (and ultimately positive) effect of the van trip has been huge.

It can all work out. Isn’t The BFG Bets-Fans-Gunther?

I do hope we get to see Bets with Irma now and get some clarity on what is going on. I know some of you already “know” beyond a shadow of a doubt that Irma was plotting to break up Bets and Gun, and that’s fine; far be it from me to try to persuade you of the possibility of other points of view. Some of us, though, see the dinner where she was rude as kind of an outlier. I wonder if she came to regret her behavior and wanted to make it up to Bets? I am convinced she does not want Gunther to hang around tied to her apron strings. I’m basing that on her attitude when he went to Peru, her apparent excitement about the van trip that she had hoped to take herself with her husband, and her not checking her messages when Gun called daily during the trip. IMO, G&K are very good at portraying characters having mixed feelings, with this week as Exhibit A. That may well be the case with Irma too.

Bets is toxic. Plain and simple. I doubt it will be very long before she’ll be back to her usual self-absorbed nonsense. And as for Gunther, maybe this has inspired him to grow a backbone, but that’s almost certainly a very temporary state of affairs.

Never put something precious and personal on line. Glad we got that cleared up. Now, throw Stef in the pool.

I love the look on Bets face when she learns that Gun’s thoughts were on her, allot!

I like Bets. She isn’t perfect but she seems to be getting some character development out of this.

Luann should not be butting in, but it’s notable in a positive way that Bets isn’t that annoyed by her in panel 3 (which would have happened earlier in their relationship).

Not sure if Bets can really change or take into consideration Gunther’s feelings or needs.

For all of you people who are demanding a new arc…….

On Monday, we see Luann and Piro holding hands while tandem skydiving.

Since they were holding hands, everyone now thinks they’re a couple.

This angers and upsets Bernice so much, she becomes even more insulting and venomous towards Luann than usual.

Luann finally snaps, and punches Bernice in the face.

Now THAT would be a really great arc………:D :D :P :P ;D :P

So, social media DID come between them. Wow this arc is so like real life. Next question, will these two let social media be the third in their relationhip, or will Bets decide to have a career with her gig? A valid decision for her to make.

Wow, Luann actually did something right.

Okay, I am not at all surprised. I strongly believe that the plan GnK have in mind is to keep us guessing, but not dismiss Bets as a main character. Not likely. You might think they have in mind keeping Steph too (ugh), even though her whole life in the strip has been in Moony U, while Bets has been beyond that, even the sneaking into the Gulag. I think there is either an underlying reason for as much negativity she gets, or a wish that Gunther be with Luann or (wet dream to the extent eldercare people like most of us can have wet dreams lol, Tiffany) but both are firmly friends, as Luann proved now. Remember she is the NAME character in this strip, and if she says something about herself or other characters one has to credit it as basically the word, and she gave the word in Panel two. Also, Bets gave up the account, and has expressed remorse over what she did, but is obviously in love with Gun. That crooked smile in panel 3 is proof. For those of you that are surprised let me say kindly, either youre reading the wrong strip or youre projecting what you wish would happen, not what is happening.

GnK obviously don’t know how younger college kid relationships work…

Well, at least we can sort-of appreciate the plot device of having another side-character providing commentary that drives the plot forward.

(For those who missed it, Luann is quoting what Gunther said that he and Bets said about their relationship. It makes Bets realize that Gunther was talking about their relationship, and thus still stuck on her. Not that it should make any difference.)

Luann is a sweetheart. She knew just the right thing to say and when to say it, and said it.

Is it just me, or is Gunther the one who seems to always pull Bets back from the edge? Maybe this isn’t the end…

This week’s arc reminds me of the Key and Peele sketch where the cooking show contestant can’t figure out whether the chef liked his dish or not.

Oh god, no. She’s still here. Leave already you dumb b***h. Be free, Gunther.

Bets us going to have to get a job now that she’s not making money from her blog anymore. Unless she turns the blog into something else.

Is Tiffany still hiding out by the Van?

Trading in a thousand fake friends for one good guy, a simple decision really.

Okay, let’s see. On Monday Bets explains to Gunther how he and Luann are perfect for each other. That would stretch this arc for another two weeks.

I keep hearing Luann in a country/mountain accent.

That tentative smile on Bets’ face in panel 3 seems encouraging. Maybe she and Gunther can remain a couple after all the turmoil of the last few days. And Lulu can be heralded as both the cause of the upset and its solution!

But let’s face it folks – Bets is still a narcissist.
