There’s hope for her! There’s a difference between someone who has flashbacks to old trauma but who can recognize that they don’t reflect present reality, versus someone who has anchored firmly in bad lessons from those traumas.

You better remember that, Bets. Don’t bring up the old “poor me, I’ve been treated badly by the guys” mantra again. Frankly, I’m sick of it. Gunther has the patience of a saint, Bets, and you gotta be grateful for that.

Took her a minute! And seeing someone nude in an embarrassing situation, for most folks, doesn’t lead to other things.

Maybe Tiff will reappear then Dez can explain where she ran into Gunther and why she brought him up to the room and why there was no announcement that there was a man on the floor! Maybe Gunther could suggest a solution to Tiff’s privacy problems!

She starts with the sob story then Gun plays into it and we are supposed believe that all is forgiven.

But it behooves Me to point one inconvenient truth.

If Gunther has to constantly point out that he’s not one of “liars and cheaters” that Bets is forever accusing him of being, then, 1) Bets is not getting it, 2) Bets is not worth it and 3) Gunther is wasting his time with her.

It’s been over two years and Bets still doesn’t trust him. She ain’t gonna change, people. EVER.

If there was any justice in this Strip, there’d be a story where some young woman comes along and gives Bets a damn good reason to be “jealous.”

But of course, I’m asking too much. :-(

Ok, that was smooth!! I was wondering how that was gonna play out, but that went WAY better than expected! 5 stars, Gunth. 5 Stars!

Yes!!! A sweet ending!!! That made my week!!! Now I’m terrified because it’s only Wednesday still and the pot has only been stirred half way. Lets see where this roller coaster takes us by Saturday….more dips, climbs, curves and dives. But Yes!!! Gunther is her Knight in shining armor. His honesty is to be envied by many couples nowadays. Way to go Gunther!!! One for the Good Guys in this unverse!!!

Non-conflict resolved. Also, Gunther basically said, “I’m not like other guys”. Bets queued it up, but still.

Tender moment. Bets has both arms around Gunther instead of one holding the phone.

At least until the next time she feels she has a reason to fly off the handle.

Hmmmmmm…. if she’s been associated with so many liars and cheaters, it makes you have to wonder just what sort of guy she has been attracted to…

Cannot trust Bets

Darn. For a moment, I thought Tiffany might have accidentally fixed the damage she did. But, I guess that was too much to hope for.

Bets has a huge complex about knowing who truly loves her and doesn’t want to get hurt like that again. She wants someone who will truly love her and never think about leaving her side.

Dang, I was hoping they would break up.

Gunther thought about it and said the right thing at the right time. We also are getting a glimpse of Bets past that was unpleasant. I am glad they are staying together. Gunther and Bets make a nice couple.

Oh thank god we don’t have to put up with her being mad for the whole week’s strips.

Next episode: “Oh Tiff, I’d like to have a word with you…”

“Well, yeah, that is why you are in this one. Everyone’s past relationships did not work out. If one of them worked out, you would still be in it. And if you allow past relationships define your current one, then it will work out the same.”

(I actually had this conversation with a friend’s GF who was sabotaging their relationship. He ended the relationship that same week because he was tired of her crap but she married another guy I hung out with who said she was completely different. Ad she seemed different. I guess she learned too late for one relationship but in time for the next.)

They will be naked next.

Temper Temper. Looks like Bets is starting to get a handle on that short fuse of hers. Gunther is good for her.

I mean, it was rude of Dez to just walk in to that room without knocking or taking a quick look, especially with a guy there. While Dez should maintain her open mind. She needs to learn to be more circumspect, when it comes to other peoples private spaces.

I don’t get it. Gunther is… a guy? Yeah, but that doesn’t make him sweet. A guy that lies and cheats? Huh? What made her “forgive” him? His point is, he didn’t need forgiveness in the first place. I’d be more upset that she so quickly jumps to conclusions even when he plainly told her how it happened.

Gunther, you can do SO much better than her. Where’s Rosa when you need her?

Well that resolved a LOT faster than I expected!

Well that was quick, no “Gunther sucks at explaining things and Bets flies off the handle for a week” hijinx

Gunther is definitely not a guy. I’m thinking he’s a variety of fungus.

I’m glad to see Bet’s improvements w/ her insecurities about Gunther; let’s be perfectly honest who hasn’t had their heart stomped on by a romantic interest? IMO nobody goes into any kind of relationship looking for heartbreak.

Betts is confusing. First she’s upset than Gunther accidentally caught Tiffany nude, starts to accuse him of being one of "those’ men/boys who cheated on her. Then when Gunther declares he’s not one of “them” all is sweetness, and, light. She even seems happy that he appreciated what he saw of Tiffany. Sounds like Betts needs to she some more whatever than Luann’s old school psychologist.

See? It’s always deeper than you mutts complain about. That’s a valid fear and a valid rejoinder.

Bets is what you call “damaged goods”…

I think the sequence serves to make Bets a bit more likeable and helps explain why she is the way she is. Having never cared much for her as a character, this helps.

Gunther looks better with the 5 o’clock shadow.

Tomorrow Tiffany flings open her bedroom door, still stark naked and dripping wet. “Kip and Steffi used all my towels!!!”

For now, Dez and Gunt prove the naysayers wrong, even me. He finally said the right words at the right time. And she realized what a find he really is.

How many guys has Bets gone through?

Bets has about 10 personalities and none of them are likable.

An unlikely and contrived arc with a hasty and overly pat how-do-we-get-out-of-this conclusion. I say bring back Prof. Zebo, who’s just as unlikely, but a lot more fun.

This wholly-manufactured conflict seems to be resolved as little too quickly. So either the past few days were nothing but meaningless padding, or things aren’t quite as resolved as they appear.

She just wants a guy…to hug.

That’s more like it!

If Bets continues to attract a bad type of male she should get counseling to find out why. The one constant in all her bad relationships is Bets. She should stop dating and get help.

Yesterday, I was alarmed and ready to quit the strip.

Not that Bets is perfect, but she doesn’t deserve to be constantly trashed (by G&K), either.

I happen to LIKE today’s turn of events.

The only cloud in the silver lining is that today’s only Tuesday and a lot can still happen.

As for me, I wish this arc would end right here and now.

Gunther is always on the defense, even though he’s never treated Bets bad in any way. I would hate to see my brother or male friend treated like this. Bets will always be this way unless she gets professional help for her issues.

All so sweet. But IIRC, Bets is mostly a user.

I’m thinking this will keep going on with Bets not trusting Gunny even tho he’s never really done anything to be treated that way. He’s a victim of the circumstances it wasn’t his fault he got a look at naked Tiffany an he can’t help it that Bets had all them did guys. Mebbe she created some of those problems too.

Gunther’s the kind of guy who gives the rest of us a good name…

For those who claim this is an abusive relationship simply because she might be distrustful of past relationships this one is very non-abused. Having a non boring girlfriend has it’s benefits. Aww, indeed! Nice save for the Bets-and-Gunny fragile romance. Gunther played that one quite smoothly for a change. But Bets remains ever mercurial. Who knows how she’ll feel tomorrow?
