At least it’s not Vale, who I was worried would show up again in the strip. Personally I want this story progress with Luann becoming a writer. We’ve had love=besotted Luann, I’d like to see a forward looking independent Luann.

I can’t tell if this is really another exercise to help Luann write or Tara’s attempt to help her meet a new boy. Maybe this guy is Jack and this is Tara trying again to be the Cupid for this nice couple that she really ship a lot. Maybe he’s Brad, who Tara has probably never seen before. Maybe it’s Quill and Luann will tell their story to an astonished Tara. Or maybe he IS a new character… interesting!! I hope Luann will try this exercise to see what happens.

How is Luann supposed to talk to him without looking? She can’t know which guy to talk to.

Back in the 1990’s in the urban fantasy “Jinx High” the author actually gave insight into writing. Her lead character was a professional writer asked to help out in a high school writing class.

She gave the kids instructions that were clearly ideas to the readers, like when she walked around in a mall or the street and saw two people and would, in her mind describe what was going on. how were the interacting, were they interacting. did one want to nd the other not.

In my living room there are two prints over the wall, a set, 1930’s a man and a woman each standing at a bar facing to one side. You’re supposed to set hem up to face each other, but my wife and i have them facing in opposite directions. That way we’re left wondering ‘will they meet’?

First time this comic made me laugh in weeks!

Today is a funny set of panels with the punch line being so well set-up through the very fetching encouragement of that fireplug Tara. How the arc set-up seems so obvious, but caution Luannaphiles! Always the dreaded misdirection play lurks.

I would love to take a stab at getting Luann’s “creative juices” flowing…

Well you might say my juices are flowing…..

We all know he isn’t going to be a total stranger.

Maybe it’s just a random hot guy and is being used for the punch line. And unless Luann is writing romance/erotica, hitting on a stranger doesn’t seem like much of an idea-booster, unless Luann wants to write a humor piece on ideas her friend had to unblock writer’s block.

Fun and breezy is not exactly luann’s calling card.

Phrasing.

There’s a lot of people here dead-set on thinking that this will result in some dramatic reveal about the guy waiting in line. It’ll be interesting to see it be some random guy with no actual importance to the story, and all those same commenters will immediately pivot to “it was just a plot device.”

But we’ll see. I’ve been wrong before, after all (like on Saturday when I thought the arc was finished; looks like we’re gonna watch this dead horse get beaten a bit more first.)

It’s been a few years since Quill, so I suppose it’s time for another guy to learn the hard way that Luann’s juice isn’t worth the squeeze (and for reasons she refuses to explain, she won’t give him the juice anyway.)
