I don’t have anywhere to go?? WTH?? She has a HUGE mansion to go live in. This is CRAZY!
Does she seriously think she can stay there forever? And the boys continue to be her doormat. I sort of can understand Les and his unrealistic dream of wearing Tiff down. But what’s up with Gunther? He has a GF! He should be able to hold strong and make sure she goes.
.
Well, you better get some clothes on, Bets. I’m sure Al will be ringing the doorbell any minute.
When in doubt, cry. It works for two year olds. And how can she say she has not place to go, she has the Manse and also the Quad (or at least another dorm room far away from Stefini). And worse comes to worse she could move into a long term hotel with her own shower, TV/cable, kitchenette and supplied housekeeping. Her father probably wouldn’t even notice the increased cost.
Leslie has been working at The Fuse full time at minimum- wages ($15.50) along with a cut of Tiffany’s wages. We never see him spending any money so he must be sitting on a nice nestegg. He couls move out of the Gulag any time he wants. Gunther could take out some student loans in order to move into a dorm. As an engineering major he has a bright future and may well be able to payoff loans in a timely fashion. Then Tiffany could live in the Gulag in comfort and style.
Sounds to me like Tiffany wants the fun of living in a dorm setting but only if she can control everything and everyone. Does she even go to class any more??
Unfortunately NO. She posts everything, always pushes Gunther who is a nice guy to do what she wants even if it embarrasses him, costs him money, or he does not like it. Bets is selfish. I liked Rosa who always helped others and was the opposite. Really more like Gunther who helps others. I’d like Gunther to really find someone besides his Mom who cares about what he wants in life and supports him and does not take advantage of him. Someone in the middle between extremes of Sweet Rosa and Bets the selfish money grubbing show-off. I’d just be happy if it was anyone but Bets. Ewww!
Truthfully – Bets behavior makes me feel ill and she is only a cartoon. Guess it is because I know a couple people like her.
If Betts continues drawing the line after Gunther caves, Betts won’t have to dump him because he’ll grow a spine and dump her first, for being so cruel to his dear friend Tiff.
The Bets hate is rampant here. It’s so painfully obvious that Tiffany, the poor little rich girl is a completely manipulative liar. Bets wants to be with her boyfriend but is totally hated by Al and Irma, for no obvious reason. Ha! There is the bridge in Brooklyn that I can sell those whose minds are made up that Bets is the manipulative beeswax (can’t use forbidden words here so the female dog word has to be substituted by beeswax) person, not dear, poor beeswax Tiffany, and the weak, useless boys have no defense or backbone. I’m going to hold off predicting what will happen but if the hypocrisy is not obvious in this arc then those whose minds are made up as to Bets will never change. Pathetic! And I don’t mean just Al and Irma or the two young cowards of the Gulag. Human hatred cannot be more clear. As I said this is a tragicomedy, in more ways than one.
It’s nice to see that Tiffany still remembers all the acting lessons she took. She fails to convince everyone, but the majority follows her. Let’s hope Bets will be able to gets her to understand there are places for her to go. Let’s also hope she joins Tiffany in a plan for getting rid of Stef’s annoying presence.
Kudos to Bets for trying to offer a diplomatic spin on the propriety of Tiff’s eviction. Tiff, on the other hand, demonstrates how much she needs to be pushed out of the nest and not be “babied” any longer. Clearly, she has been infantilized for too long, and has allowed her independent spirit to become dormant. I thought she was making positive progress with her decision to go out alone to a party the previous evening. Now it’s time to remind her that she did so, and that she’s ready to be independent again. But it will require that her friends act maturely to demand of her to dry her tears and accept the responsibilities of a young adult. They could certainly encourage her at the same time by reminding her of her options to live either in her own home, at the Quad, or even at her own separate apartment which she could afford more easily than any of her friends could do. If she fears living alone in a mansion that is too large for her, she could invite someone to live with her, even an employee whose primary job is to care for the mansion, e.g., a maid.
To reiterate, she has options, and is entirely mistaken about her initial tearful feeling that she has nowhere to go. If B, G, & L can stand firm with her, they could all discuss the matter and support her by brainstorming about her options. They could strengthen their friendship and Tiff’s own confidence. But will G&K spin the story that way? Prior experience doesn’t appear promising, but maybe a surprise of that sort for the readers is overdue. Maybe if the current adolescent characters are actually shown finally to grow up and resolve their adolescent social and psychological conflicts, G&K could develop some new characters, for “Luann, The Next Generation”. Even then, there could still be opportunities to feature existing characters as adults who still suffer adventuresome dramas.
OK that crying face actually made me laugh. First time in a while for Luann.
And yeah Bets is right. She is 100% manipulating them. Seriously, she burst into tears at the mention of her moving out because she doesn’t have anywhere to live, conveniently ignoring the giant mansion and the dorm she can go back to at any time?!?!? Do you know how many people would kill for even a fraction of that space to sleep in? And she’s just conveniently ignoring her 2 perfectly available housing options in favor of mooching off the boys. Les has been sleeping on the couch for two weeks. She should be ashamed of herself, milking an injury, and inconveniencing them for so long.
At the very least, she needs to be the one shopping because we all know she can afford it.
Also, while I’m at it, this lack of spine from the guys is sad, but unsurprising. Still, I hate it because they’re making Bets the bad guy here. People like to rant and moon behind your back, but won’t say anything to your face because they’re too scared. And now that they enlisted Bets help and immediately back down at the first sign of opposition, she’ll most likely be viewed as the real opposition. She’s not, she’s just trying to help them.
And nothing to wear. Tiffany has EVERYWHERE to go. Tiff’s crying crocodile tears of a river is getting deep enough to drown Les n Gunth’s sense of logic.
This is just too much to take. Tiffany gave up the Pity Party years ago: https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2019/11/30This started the arc where she called ED from I-HAUL and talked him into selling off her expensive dorm stuff to pay for her tuition when Ann Eiffel had cut her off from any of Daddy’s funds. Thus providing funding for herself and eventually forming a relationship with Bets seling clothes on e-sales.
This whole arc has been just too much of a jumble of character acting against their normal behavior(s). And, as we all know, Greg’s characters always revert to norm.
1212’s Wednesday Tiffany switcheroo seems to silly to take. BAH!
The only way to save this arc is for Tiff to claim fear of living alone in the McManse after the vandalism and for the whole Gulag to move in with her.
Al shows up at the door, gets all bent out of shape because Bets stayed the night and throws them all out. They all go to Tiffany’s mansion, turn it into a commune, and live happily ever after.
Tiffany wants company, protection, attention and Gunther’s cooking.
Les “wants” Tiff (Ha, Ha, Good Luck).
Gunther has been a very close, trusted, over-protective , though sometimes gullible friend to Tiffany since 2015.
Bets wants to domicile with Gunther without “interference” from the meddling “human nanny cam” Irma, and the odious Al Gray.
The solution? All the kids move into the manse.
Wait, hear Me out. The “move” would only last about five seconds.
Why? Because after nearly a decade (OUR time) of Tom “never there” Farrell almost never being home, G&K would suddenly conjure up a lame “sitcom reason” for Tom to suddenly coming home and be an omnipresent 24/7 stay at home pop, who would quickly evict anyone who’s not his current gold-digging girlfriend from the manse.
Either way, Tiffany, would win. Right on until she finds out that a “round the clock” parent means RULES and that her dad’s oppressive boundaries would make Irma seem “reasonable.” Then it’s back to the dorm. And (GAG) Stef.
PS: Don’t be too “impressed” with Tiff’s “acting.” Remember, Luann once beat her out for the lead in Westside Story. ;-)
Gunther is not worthy of Bets. I always liked his character but when he did not stand up for his girl to his mom & now won’t say anything while she comes to his aid I really think he is pathetic. Gave him credit for guts to go to Peru but he has regressed. Bets should tell Gun to find a new holster.
Tiff has places to go, choices even e.g. the dorm or her own home (the manse); they just aren’t places she wants to go to; she’s taking advantage of others as a means to solve her own fears and problems.
Oh GAWD. Will SOMEBODY – at this point I don’t even care WHO – please put on some well-spurred KICKING APPAREL and BOOT that spoiled self-centered broad OUT???!?!?!?!
Wow it amazes me how many people don’t like Bets and trying to make her the bad person. She’s not if I was her I’d stop trying to help Tiffany and Gulag and let them self destruct. If Gun was smart he’ll take Tiffany’s keys and move into the mansion and give Tiff his room and he and Bets can finally get some peace.
I still think she should get her dad to let her bring all her friends to live in the mansion. If nothing else charge them 10% of what they’d normally pay and she lives off that rather than dad’s allowance. Safety in numbers.
Do tears really work on any men? I’ve never had any man in my life that would give in if I cried. But I cannot fake cry. I don’t have any dumb men in my life. Maybe it only works on a certain type of man?
I see G&K have decided that Tiffany had been coming off as too sympathetic lately, so they decided to torpedo her character the same way they did to Quill right before Luann broke up with him.
Darn. And here I thought that over these last few years, Tiffany had finally grown up and stopped being the annoying, manipulative princess she was in high school. Guess there must be a class reunion coming up, and she needs practice at returning to her “good old days.”
I HAVE A PREDICTION! Uncle Al walks in, see Bets in a robe, and kicks Gunther out for breaking the house rule. Now there’s an empty room for Tiff so she and Les stay there. And Gunther moves in with Bets! -—(This could be way off, but I just wanted to throw my hat in the ring :))
If Tiffany’s tears are real…. then she needs counseling. If her tears are fake, then she is being annoying and taking advantage of the situation.
I am still waiting for the other shoe to drop….. the issue that SHOULD be addressed by Bets and Gunther…. the poor treatment of Bets by Irma & Al. Yet, unfortunately, instead of addressing it with them…. B & G are just setting things up to cause more of a ruckus and a whole h3lluva lot of problems by the silly stunt of purposefully having Bets stay over to “show them” that they will do what they want.
Again, I could not care less if B & G are living together or not. But, Gunther is a guest in the guest house (not paying his way). His choice to have Bets stay over in that living arrangement was a poor one on his part.
If B & G want to live together…. do so…. but in an adult way…. get sufficient funds to rent your own apartment and pay your own way on these things.
OMG!! I did not see this coming. The boys have been figuring how to get her out for over a week. Even hoped Al and Irma would evict her. Then the bathroom issue. Now, “they like having me here” (their faces tell the opposite) followed by the tears and “I don’t have anywhere to go!” (except the form or the mansion). Bets sees through it, but the boys are ready to forget how she has been treating them and want to cave. I hope Bets reminds the boys that they wanted her out and they have to stand their ground. After all, if Bets wasn’t there, they wouldn’t have told her to leave. BTW, I loved how Bets put it to Tiffany: “The boys know you don’t need to be babied anymore. They want to LET YOU MOVE ON”
I don’t know who I feel worse about here. Tiffs being kicked out or Bets volunteering herself to be Gulag mom/enforcer. No one’s paying rent, and Tiff is learning that sex trumps friendship with her “old” supposedly reliable friends. Time to move back to the mansion, give up on the idea of finding her tribe, and develop some well earned trust issues. The guys get off Scot free as usual.
WOW. All of these people are seriously messed up. There’s Gunther, who has mommy issues, Bets who has control issues, Tiffany who has security issues and Les who has resentment issues. Not one normal, well adjusted person in the whole group. I am disapointed to see how they turned Tiffany into a sniveling little cry baby, but she does need to stay in the Gulag with Gunther and Les. How else is she going to steal Gunther away from Bets?
Hmmm, there’s the mansion and the dorm. So who is going to burst her bubble? I guess no one at the party convinced her to return. Hump day and three more days to either resolve this mess or flip to another arc. Karen sent a Luannfan email with Piro. I’d like to see this arc mesh with Luann and Piro storyline and get him back into this picture. §;-o
Part of me gets it: Tiff doesn’t wanna be alone. But her roommates in college are impossible to stay with and after what happened at her mansion, she’s too scared to be there alone. So what’s the solution? Well, I still forsee Al kicking out Bets (and Gunther, by extension), so they can all just go stay in the mansion together. “Wait, what bout the other part?” I mean….I’m a guy too, and the power of women’s tears are near unbeatable, so I get why Gunther and Les backpeddled like that.
Gunther has always been a helpless wuss, so no change there.
But not so long ago, Les was still a conniving schemer. Old Les would have come up with a scheme to get his room back. It probably would have backfired, as his schemes always do, but he wouldn’t be helplessly mumbling.
And no, he doesn’t “want” her around – at least not when she’s hogging the facilities.
Why doesn’t Tiffany have everybody move into the mansion with her? She would have company and protection, and Gunther’s Mom couldn’t say anything about Bets living there.
I think Gun and Les are just being the typical guy reacting to a pretty girl crying; some think that Les would have ulterior motives in wanting Tiff to stay; I think he’s seen enough of her behavior but is just responding to her crying as a guy might.
I mentioned one other time, that Uncle Al (that loves Tiffany) should find out exactly what happened to the broken window. Make it safe for her to move back into the mansion.
Remember Tiff is an actress. An experienced actress. She knows how to pull the waterworks at moment’s notice. GROW UP, Tiff. You do have a home to go to AND a dorm suite. This is the guys’ home AND their bathroom.
Why does Tiff get away with that? Because they let her. Suffice to say there are few out there who can say “no” in those kinds of situations and make it stick.
The two Gulag Boys are suckers, falling for Tiff’s tears. Bets is their only hope, it seems, for evicting Tiffany, who does have a mansion to go back to!
For all those bemoaning the cruelty that poor Bets must endure, just take a second look at panel No. 3. With hands on hips, and assuming a position of arrogant authority, sweet little Bets dominates the once trim and beautiful Tiffany into a blubbering waif, looking not to be thrown out into the street. Bets. Bets. Bets. You’re out of your league

What happened to Tiff’s bust? They’re gone!

Maybe the boys should let Tiff stay there and they can move into her empty mansion.

This is turning Tiffany into her old self, which I do not like because I’ve been rooting for her to get better since the Ann Effiel era.
Rauderi almost 2 years ago
Sorry, Bets, you tried. I respect the honesty of her opening gambit. Botched it in panel 3, though.
poppacapsmokeblower almost 2 years ago
I still think she should get her dad to let her bring all her friends to live in the mansion. If nothing else charge them 10% of what they’d normally pay and she lives off that rather than dad’s allowance. Safety in numbers.

And now I’m back to hating Tiffany. Strange to give a girl the last name of a man who made stained glass lamps.

Do tears really work on any men? I’ve never had any man in my life that would give in if I cried. But I cannot fake cry. I don’t have any dumb men in my life. Maybe it only works on a certain type of man?

I see G&K have decided that Tiffany had been coming off as too sympathetic lately, so they decided to torpedo her character the same way they did to Quill right before Luann broke up with him.
anaditz almost 2 years ago
Darn. And here I thought that over these last few years, Tiffany had finally grown up and stopped being the annoying, manipulative princess she was in high school. Guess there must be a class reunion coming up, and she needs practice at returning to her “good old days.”

Les should just tell her he’s moving back in his room. She can stay if she wants!
scottandcourteney almost 2 years ago

RolloTheGrouch almost 2 years ago
When did Les become such a helpless wuss?
Gunther has always been a helpless wuss, so no change there.
But not so long ago, Les was still a conniving schemer. Old Les would have come up with a scheme to get his room back. It probably would have backfired, as his schemes always do, but he wouldn’t be helplessly mumbling.
And no, he doesn’t “want” her around – at least not when she’s hogging the facilities.

I assume they’re all going to end up living in the mansion together?
Jaymi Cee Premium Member almost 2 years ago
I don’t get it. She has an entire mansion. Or she can go back to the dorms. Heck, with their money, she can check into the most swank hotel in town.
Wishingonastar almost 2 years ago
Now would be the time for Al to show up and tell Betsy she’s no longer welcome after seeing the tapes from the previous night’s adventures.
eced52 almost 2 years ago
Why doesn’t Tiffany have everybody move into the mansion with her? She would have company and protection, and Gunther’s Mom couldn’t say anything about Bets living there.
Tenax almost 2 years ago
Geez. Gonna let her stay? Les take back your room & let her stay out on the bean bag in the living room. See if she likes that arrangement.
alexius23 almost 2 years ago
What about her dorm room?
RSH almost 2 years ago
I think Gun and Les are just being the typical guy reacting to a pretty girl crying; some think that Les would have ulterior motives in wanting Tiff to stay; I think he’s seen enough of her behavior but is just responding to her crying as a guy might.
tutibug5 almost 2 years ago
I mentioned one other time, that Uncle Al (that loves Tiffany) should find out exactly what happened to the broken window. Make it safe for her to move back into the mansion.
