Sounds like Bernice is not nearly as over Piro as she had been letting on. Then again, when I have a task to do, like hand someone a letter I start with “I have a letter for you” instead of complaining about how perfect boring my family is.

NOW we get into the letter to Bernice. Hope it’s not heartbreaking.

Sheesh Bern, how much caffeine have you had in that tea of yours?

And so it begins! Bernice, Piro and The Letter. The arc to end all arcs! 8^ )

And Luann didn’t steam it. Good girl. But yeah, why didn’t you START with the letter? Was something left smoldering there Bernice?

Luann you don’t start with Tara and Piro are family, You say Bernice Piro gave me this letter to give to you.

Uh-oh. Bernice is NOT over Piro. She is a pro at being nonchalant about it but she never got over it. Heck, look how she acted around Nil. That should’ve clued to us to how she would respond about Piro. And, chill, Bernice. Be glad Luann remembered the card shortly after arriving home. She could have gone DAYS before remembering it and giving it to you.

As Luann1212 likes to remind us, Wednesday is the big switcheroo day. If his insight holds true we may be out of the creative writing 101 doldrums!

Interestingly, Bernice calls Piro “Captain Curt” and she did not even get a “see ya” when he left. If I remember correctly, a their last “meeting”, they kissed, she felt nothing, and she was done with him.

Okay, it’s official. I am completely tired of Bernice.

Is it just me, or has Luann’s IQ been steadily decreasing since she finished high school?

Told ya yesterday.

Luann had but to mention Piro’s letter to Bernice and Bern’s goes NUTS.

And boom, Luann’s “writer’s block problem” evaporates.

You want Bernice to really go spastic?

Tell her his real name is “Walt.”

Later, you could write about Bern’s “shocking reaction.” ;-)

Now, Luann, the writer, doesn’t even recognize the letter is the big story…..the suspense, the drama, the cookie cutter style romance story. She achieved her best intellectual level when she use to lay on her bed pouring over movie magazines.

And is the envelope steamed open? Tomorrow will tell.

A watched plot never boils. Maybe I should skip a couple days…

Looks like Bernice still had some feelings for Piro, after all. Why else is she getting so bent out of shape?

I guess there won’t be any letter steaming. Too bad.. that would have been fun! lol Luann would have naturally mentioned the letter as soon as she entered the room. Her curiosity must be through the roof.

Bernice seems to still be very interested in Piro. His mysterious, sad past fascinated her, but his not opening up ended up hurting her and making her feel unappreciated. Now that Piro may have written her what she has always wondered, maybe everything will change and kissing him will give her strong emotions. But will Bernice share the message with her closest friend Luann?

Well, Bernice, YOU dumped HIM, so quit your kvetching.

So, this arc might get interesting …. maybe ….?

Annnnnd…. the letter is missing. So did it fall out of Luann’s oversized purse, or did Piro change his mind and take it back? It’ll take another week to find out.

What’s the big deal about this guy?? What makes him soo special?

You could write about Shannon, Luann. That’s a weird and messed up part of your family’s dynamics.

Why is Bernice always so angry? She seems like a very unhappy character…

LuAnn is so scatter brained, she needed something to jog her memory.

I predict the letter will say something like “..can we meet somewhere..?”

Well, Luann is primarily and traditionally concerned about Luann.

Yeah, Luann, you could’ve mentioned that, right after you told Bernice that you seen Piro.

I can’t get over the fact that Luann is ticked off that her family is boring. Boring is good, Luann, when it comes to family and everyone getting along. Consider yourself lucky.

What a horrible assignment, asking these kids to share shocking info about their families. There are at least 2 students in that class who clearly prefer keeping that kind of info private.

I think Piro might want to reconnect.

That’s funny! I think Bernice shares our frustration with scatterbrained Luann, but I don’t understand the Captain Curt reference – can someone fill me in?

In the meantime, Luann continues to find ways to never do any schoolwork. Her self-pity and lack of motivation is really annoying. It seems like whining is her only real talent, so maybe she can write a rambling yarn about how she is “shockingly” spoiled and picked on.

For once Bernice has a point.

I still maintain that she did not have to walk in and first thing hand over the letter, as if she was on a military assignment reporting to a superior. GEEZ LOUISE. She got home. they got to talking, and BTW, it was Bernice who asked about the class, and Luann was responded and in a perfectly normal sequence remembered the note. SO WHAT? It isn’t as if Bernice was waiting for the note. She didn’t know about it.

Now there is the drama Luann needs

No, she forgot. Oddly she was more focused on her school work. I’m sure a lot of people here think it’s selfish of Luann to think of herself first, but I bet they spend a lot of time thinking of themselves

Nice to see this comic strip has not discovered texting, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, emails, or a plain old fashioned phone number.

Luann was caught up in her own self-pity to think of the letter first.I always said Piro’s kiss, which was interrupted, meant more to Bernice than she let on. The contents may or may not create more angst, and more likely Luann will get her “shock”. I’d really like to see Piro and Bernice reconnect. I think Nil is nil. :-/

Finally the letter…………

Knowing how things go in this strip; Bernice is going to read the letter. Then either get mad, burst into tears (or both), and go fleeing from the room. An we (and Luann) will spend the next week and a half wondering “What was in that LETTER”?!!

Calm down, there, Bea, she was getting to it. Sheesh.

Captain Curt?!?!?!?! Is that an incorrect Star Trek reference?

followed by a scuffling sound and attempts to gasp for air

Awww look at that, Bernice is offended that the guy she literally stalked wasn’t more forthcoming about his private life.

Bernice you know how we called Piro by that name but his real name is Wait Star.

Great story line!

Well, it’s been established that she’s not a very good writer.

I am thinking the Captain Curt reference is to his brusque or “curt” way of dealing with her. He was not warm and welcoming.

I’m hoping Luann didn’t read it.

At least LuAnn remembered the letter.

For a while, I started to warm up to Luann, but I’m really starting to dislike her again with this arc.

If Luann can’t find anything to write about her family, maybe it is because she just isn’t gazing above the navel. Her brother saved a guy’s (Dirk) life, her sister-in-law endured an abusive/stalking relationship from the same guy Brad saved, her now-niece suffers from parental neglect. I bet she would uncover who knows what if she asked her mom about her younger days.

Geez Berniece take a chill pill.

Luann was to wrapped up in her own drama to remember the letter.

That exchange was actually quite funny.

I am hopeful that this letter will not disrupt the Nil -Bernice relationship…. because I really like their relationship and I very much like Nil as well. Do not get me wrong, I like Piro/Walt as a character as well…. but would like him featured with someone else.

That said…. I am hopeful this will not disrupt….. but I do smoke a pipe…. so, I guess I live in a land of “pipe dreams” and fantasies.

Well, gee! Why wouldn’t Piro tell her all about his family, his past, etc., when he hadn’t known her very long? I always told my most intimate secrets to someone, just after meeting them.

If you promise to stop overacting for a few moments, Bernie, I will grant you that Luann is a dip who should indeed have given you that letter first thing!

Luann is under no obligation to be the delivery girl to Bernice immediately upon arriving home. Bernice asks her a question about school, and Luann begins talking about school. She remembers the letter promptly when the subject of Piro comes up. It’s not like she forgot the letter for a week or something. Bernice is upset way beyond all reason, IMO, and Luann hasn’t done anything to deserve being yelled at.

I hate to make absolute statements about developments, current or upcoming, in Luannverse because of GnK’s famous penchant for misdirection. Yesterday was prime misdirection day, but the actual proof is today, Thursday, IMHO. There is pretty much an assurance of tension, even if cast hilariously, between Bern and Lu, in that Bern, with her repressed personality disorder (teaching juvenile justice course now so I’m drowning in disorder theories -:) and Lu’s obvious desire to see what is in the letter. Why the tension? To be blunt, because both of these BFF’s have romantic interest in the same mystery man. I never believed for a micronano second that Bernice was not interested in Walt/Piro, she is SO interested, and Lu is as well. These 19-20 year old women need a real romantic relationship (and more that just lovey-dovey too), not having one, along comes handsome, intrguing mystery man, who feels the need to write a letter to Bern. As Ms. Horner hinted the other day; time for conflict. Buckle up!
