If they were both being mature, Tiff would thank him for the dinner and say she’ll take an Uber home…“See you around the campus!” And Kip would text Stef and say, “Sorry, on my way!” and tell her about the thank-you dinner. If Stef makes a big deal of it, it could be reason to start thinking about breaking up. But…that wouldn’t make especially interesting reading, so what happens next will probably be different. (Kip was drawn pretty smitten, so something is up between him and Tiffany.)

But if you’ll recall, last semester, Bets agreed to be Stef’s roommate.

Was that a “clue” that Bets is not coming back, and the quad is about to get a new dormmate?? ;-)

Kip is so enamored by a girl who can string 6 words together to make a coherent sentence….unlike Stef who just squeals…and boy is she squealing now!

It’s only two minutes past nine. It would take her that time to get off the plane and to where Kip was supposed to meet her. She’s sending him a text message when she’s just barely off the plane because she can’t see him right away. Kip should dump her now.

I think Kip asking Tiff out was done on purpose. He’s all but stated he’s done with Tiff. He’s making it easy for her to go ballistic and break up.

We all saw this coming. And honestly? I’m looking forward to Steff’s rage. Kip is clearly having more fun being with Tiff.

“Ohcrap” is just the short way of saying “Stef just wrote herself out of the strip”.

I don’t think Stef will forgive Kip for being late, especially after she texted him so many times. They have to start thinking about an excuse, but I think Kip actually wants to create a situation that push Stef to break up with him. Maybe not consciously, but subconsciously. He has no excuses as a boyfriend for forgot about Stef, Tiffany does because going to the airport to pick up Stef had never been a priority for her. They both enjoyed too much their conversation and got lost in it. I wonder if Stef will wait for Kip to arrive or if she will take a cab. Both cases, she will be furious.

The magic is happening. Don’t get discouraged Tiff. It’s the first major step in your direction. Kip being a bit late may be the second step; a contrast in how the evening went between you and Stef.

Tiff acts educated and refined a bit.

According to the strip on 8-29, Step is supposed to be flying in at 9. It would really be a shame if this restaurant is, say, 90 minutes away from the airport.

Like the movie “Marty,” there is nothing more attractive than a woman you just enjoy talking to.

Kip is going to get some very nasty messages and telling offs from Stef. I guess Tiffany is that likable.

If Stef’s plane “comes in at 9:00 pm”, then at 9:02 she would just be landing. As far as I know…. and please correct me if I’m wrong…. but you can’t send texts/messages until you’re on the ground because the aircraft is moving too fast for the cell-towers.

I don’t think Kip meant to be late, but it was always his plan to include Tiff when he went to pick up Steffi, knowing full well how that would set her off. Subconscious wheels turning on how to rid himself of insecure Steffi the easiest way for both of them. But whether he was consciously ready to dump her that night is another story. Maybe plant some seeds of doubt first. Had they been on time, it still would have peeved Steffi off royally, but she wouldn’t leave him over it. But now, forget it that pair is toast. And a new one emerged. Hooray for Tiff, bout time she found someone.

Peep the leaning in!!! He’s interested in Tiff!! She is a fascinating character, she’s like a swimming pool, shallow and deep at the same time, by the time you get to the deepest part of her, she starts to back track towards her shallow self. I think her weight gain and the whole Ann Eiffel arc really helped her grow up. She now knows there’s more to her than her looks.

Tif, while you aren’t “Supermodel” thin (stereotype,) neither are you “plus size” anymore. You look healthy.And, it looks like Tif and Kip, are starting to “connect.” What will Steff say (and/or, do,) about that?

Tiff needs to listen to Kip’s experiences too. Hasn’t she learned it’s not all about her?

Is Kip recording Tiff’s conversation, or should I say, lecture?

So Tiff is not only out of shape- she’s also a profoundly boring and self-centered conversationalist. At least the old Tiff was aesthetically pleasing.

How did Kip manage to forget Stef if she was texting every 4 minutes?

It may be a detail Greg n’ Karen missed, but I recall that when traveling by air, you have to set your phone for ‘airplane mode’, and you can’t send notifications/texts while in that mode. So Stef could not have sent all those texts while she was in the air.

If that’s not a goof, that means Stef has been on the ground for a while now, she may even be watching Kip and Tiff and pinging when they get too interested in each other, in which case her plan has already failed

So let’s see Kip’s options here:

1. Get to the airport as soon as possible – that would mean Stef sees Kip and Tiff together and dressed very nicely, late and of course no flowers. Kip is basically honest, so he would tell Stef what happened, and we all know how Stef would react;

2. Drop Tiff off at home and pick up flowers on the way to pick up Stef. He’d be even later but at least it would look like Kip dressed up for Stef. Assuming Kip told the truth about why he was late, Stef would definitely blow up;

3. Kip tells Tiff he is afraid of confrontation and just wants someone who loves classwork and hiding as much as he – no wait, that’s Gunther, not Kip;

4. Kip gets flowers and makes a dinner reservation, picks up Stef and wines/dines her right after, and lies his butt off about why he’s late. Naaah, that’s Les, not Kip!

Kip is definitely listening to Tiffany. He is making eye contact and leaning forward. He just forget about Stef. Why in the world wouldn’t Stef call him from the airport if she is expecting him? Don’t young people understand that you can actually use a cell phone to TALK to someone. Why keep texting if he is not responding?

Kip seems enchanted by Tiff’s less than scintillating conversation. Apparently, if he can blow off his girlfriend waiting at the airport this easily he has no feelings for her at all.

Should Tiffany be rationalizing plus-size beauty when she is capable of being thinner? She only gained the weight due to depression. Seems like a slippery slope to me. Steffanie offered to work out with her last year but she declined.

On a separate note – it is unbelievably rude to forget about someone needing to be picked up from the airport, it doesn’t matter what the reason is, but “I was having dinner with another woman” is not going to work. Kip is a jerk who can’t seem to remember his obligations or promises, but maybe it’s all part of a larger scheme

I feel like panel 2 is just Greg trolling the readers at this point. Pointing out your own lack of payoff to plot points is hardly a brag, after all.

So, Kip enjoys some intelligent conversation which he’ll never get from Stef since she’s all about a physical relationship.

Tiff talks about Paris and Stef talks about the Yam Festival.

It seems obvious that Stephanie did not send enough texts.

What Kip said to Tiffany yesterday—about not seeing himself with Stef—kind of sounds like what Warren Beatty’s character in Shampoo (George Roundy) said to Jackie (Julie Christie) during the party scene. Of course, the difference is that Kip isn’t messing around with three other women besides his girlfriend.

Kip seems really interested in what Tiffany has to say and enjoying her company. Unfortunately they forgot about picking up Steff from the airport. Oops. She will not be happy- he’s late, probably no flowers and bringing Tiffany along, after a nice dinner. Quadruple oops!!

What happened to the sudden major turn of events that was promised with Betts and Gunther. Was that it? The breakup? I’d be more interested to see where Kip and Tiffany are headed. Maybe the couples scene is getting some new couples?

Kip may just be amazed at the idea of a female wanting to have a conversation with him, as in: she listens when he talks, and he listens when she talks.

I doubt he and Stefi do very much of that.

Please do NOT take Tiffany to the airport. That is the worst thing Kip could do. He needs to deal with Stef, whatever he decides, and not subject Tiffany to any of Stef’s abuse.

I think Stef will be furious at Kip when he finally picks her up, with or without Tiffany. But Stef will still want to go back to the privacy hut or somewhere to give Kip the only thing he likes about her.

At least the Evanses have not forgotten about the broken window.

Looks like someone’s a tad late. And Kip can’t just ditch Tiff at the restaurant, so unless he calls a ride for her (or she does it herself), she’ll have to go with him to pick op Stef. And wouldn’t that be fun to watch!

I sometimes wonder why I find Luann on my list of favorite “comics” on this site. The rest of my selections are on the cynical edgy side (editorial cartoons, etc…) These last few days I’ve seen how the author has cleverly developed these characters over time, young teenagers developing into adults, stumbling through life, making mistakes and dealing with the consequences. Been there, Done that. I’m a fan.

Kip said that Steff flies in at 9. The last ping was at 9:02. Anyone betting her flight is late so Kip won’t be “caught”, thus delaying any break up drama?

The table is cleared of the dishes. Kip is attentive to Tiffany. There is going to be a tug-a-war, and hopefully the rope will not be wrapped around anyone’s neck.

Chubby chirping Tiffany is boring Kip just as much as Stefffi’s incessant calls do, I fear. Dial it back a bit, Tiffster….

She is only deluding herself when she acts as if a plus size figure is okay… particularly at the age that character is.
