Inviting him and the rest of the team after they finished the game would have made more sense. It is still a nice double entendre wanting to offer him a leg. If Bernice and Luann were guys and PiGuy were a girl, Bernice and Luann would have recognized this timeworn tactic of “please don’t try to flirt with me—I’ve got a significant other already.” It’s interesting to see this common scenario genderflipped.

I would recommend going to the basketball game, regardless.
