Monstro is still swimming at least, but Bernice is acting clueless and still uncaring about Monstro. Her eyes are only on Jack. Come to think of it, she is acting like Luann at 16 when she started her new job at the swimming pool. Didn’t Bernice think to change the water?
Oh, Bernice, WATER chemistry, not the one you’re feeling. I can’t speak for Jack. You will have to find out on your own, Bern, if he does. From the look of it, I think not.
I think right now, Bernice is “wetter” than monstro is. She has the hots for Jack but i suspect any quasi-seductive action will be met with confused looks from jack and/or an interruption from Luann or others. Thus leading to a great big nothing.
“This ‘Tee Hee Hee’ moment is brought to you by Greg and Karen! Remember, kids… if it ain’t ‘K&G’, it ain’t ‘Tee Hee Hee!’! Tune in tomorrow for another exciting episode of ‘The Tee Hee Hee Files!’”
What a relief. The little goldfish will be ok♡. About Bernice…. It appears that she’s deliberately misunderstanding what Jack is saying. She really wants Jack with all her heart♡. I almost can’t believe it, but right now the very serious Bernice lives in a world of beautiful and passionate love fantasies ♡. FINALLY! Jack is probably unable to understanding what’s happening with her and he’s right. This requires Luann’s intermediation to get Bernice’s brain start. Or Jack asking seriously what’s wrong with her.
Hot, hot, hot and bothered at Bernice is; Jack is a sexy hunk but no clear indication he is perceiving the hormones that Bernice is sending out. She is aroused, cauldron like I have been saying. If he gives any hint it might be on. Great drawing here.
Mission control we have permission to launch. 3-2-1 Liftoff! Oh-no some critical systems failure. We’ll have to scrap this launch and try again another time. We theorize there was a communications failure of some sort. Fuel for Bernice’s dream the next bunch of nights.
When fish poop in the water, it breaks down into nitrates. If you don’t have a filter or change the water often, it means that the nitrate levels can get too high. This can be a problem for some fish. The good news is that goldfish are quite hearty and this condition doesn’t effect them too badly. Fish tanks do require regular cleaning/maintenance however… it seems like Batty Bernice has been neglecting that.
My guess for Saturday. The changing of the water accomplished, Jack takes off. Luann closes things out with a witty remark. Another dream sequence may be in the offing next week.
That nice blouse and scarf are about to get splashed with aquarium water. But so what Bernice; You said you love Monstro, well then get to work. Get the cleaning supplies and a temporary bowl to put him in.
I liked these three characters (Jack, Luann & Bernice) when they were more alive and carefree. Like here
https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2017/05/13, and here
https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2018/04/24
Hilarity, as 1212 says, ensued and abounded. It appears that the characters now have become duller and stodgier. Although the “pandemic” doesn’t appear to exist in Pittsville, they react to everyday life as if it does.
Some folks keep asking for the characters to “mature.” Well if this is what we get, I’ll pass.
When we are dancing and you’re dangerously near me I get ideas, I get ideas I want to hold you so much closer than I dare to I want to scold you ‘cause I care more than I care to And when you touch me and there’s fire in every finger I get ideas, yes, I get ideas
And after we have kissed goodnight and still you linger I kinda think you get ideas too
Your eyes are always saying the things you’re never saying I only hope they’re saying that you could love me too For that’s the whole idea; it’s true Lovely idea that I’m falling in love with you
And after we have kissed goodnight and still you linger Babe, I kinda think you get ideas too
Nice to see Bernice taking a break from the books, and she even knows how to be sexy. I imagine Jack is used to many girls throwing themselves at him all the time. Loving this arc, a great relief from self-centered Bets.
If anything is going to happen, Bern will have to start it. Maybe if Monstro recovers, Bern will plant a big wet one on Jack – which might trigger a response.
Jack is not portrayed as being romantically interested in Bernice or any other girl for that matter. Many girls have tried to catch his attention but he remains oblivious. For a man his age it’s kind of weird. It would be nice to see him show interest in Bernice. If he doesn’t I’m afraid we are in for a long running “Bernice chases Jack” gag, which is already boring.
I don’t recall ever seeing Bernice’s face in profile. It’s rather Peanuts-like, but nice. Anyway, this strip doesn’t make much sense. Does she have a crush on Jack or is she just very horny? I’m thinking it’s the latter.
See… this is what I call the “problem with pronouns”. When I edit or critique my students’ written work, one of the biggest challenges my students have tend to result from the overuse of pronouns. 2. Even though a water change is warranted now, perhaps Jack should suggest that alternative future solutions could be to have an under-gravel filter system to bacterially handle built-up wastes…. or at least to get a simple box & floss filter system for the tank.
3. If she had one of the above two types of filtration system…. her tank could easily handle a second fish….. and if Bernice would want to imagine so…. if Monstro is a “fish representative” of Jack, she could get Monstro a companion fish a bit more delicate, like herself. :)
“There was an old man of Boulogne / Who sang a most topical song. / It wasn’t the words / That frightened the birds / But the horrible double-entendre.”
