Well, im not searching that third panel for the notice. And they posted it miles away from where she found the dog. And in the one location you know the dog owner cannot live!!!

There’s a bare possibility that one of LuAnn’s friends might see it.

So they are going to hide Puddles from Gunther?

This is what you call “minimum effort to prevent someone keeping you from what you want”. I join those here who predict that either Tiffany or Gunther will blow the proverbial whistle.

Last stray “dog” I saw was earlier tonight. Actually a coyote.

Whenever I see somebody say “probably” I’m on alert—all too often they’re about to give the worst possible motivation for something observed and call it the most likely.

You’d think Puds would show some loyalty and mope around and whine or something. Just on the surface of it, it say much for Luann and the DeGroots!

I would assume the minute that Gunther stops by the apartment he would recognize Puddles.

Idiots, of course you try to find the owner. Take him to a vet to see if he’s chipped. Take pics and post them on line, Bets, you internet whiz. I’d go back to where I found him and ask around the neighborhood. If the dog park is nearby, go there and ask folks if they know the dog. Etc. They want to keep him, though. Hope Gunther or Bernice happen by—that’ll take care of it. Or Tiff blabs about the dog at the Fuse and Nancy (or others) hear.

Hmmm. I think Puddles is looking around for a spot to go potty. There goes your room deposit. You know, animal urine is very hard to remove from floor materials, and since Puddles is a male, he will also pee on the legs of the furniture, a male tendency to mark on things. This is why I always have female dogs. My son brought his male dog to our house when he needed to live with us for a while. That dog marked all over the house. When they move out, we’re going to replace the entire flooring in the house except the master suite where he is prohibited. Females don’t mark and will hold until taken outside unless they were kept inside for too long which is not their fault.

Is Greg trying to kill of “Luann?” I wonder because his continuation of this broadly disliked story about a kidnapped pet is making the strip a place to avoid. How many months is he going to draw out this story before Puddles is reunited with his family? Ann Eiffel’s three year reign of misery was bad, this is much worse.

I take it that Luann would have called the local shelters. Stef could take an IPhone photo and email it to the shelters. But like Stef said, some people finding loose pets assumed they weren’t getting cared for.

is Bernice no longer RA? Did Steph move out? won’t Gunther notice? where is this arc going?

Tiffany also knows Puddles. He tore her clothes on stage during a talent show.

considering whats ON the bulletin board, i’m surprised there isn’t a bra and thong tacked to it. Seriously ladies, you need a MUCH bigger “found dog” ad on that board.

Whatever happens, we know Luann will get puddles back. Otherwise a stranger would have found him and he’d be gone for good.

That notice is way too small. I think she just put it there so she can say she did and is hoping no one notices or cares so she can keep puddles. I hope she gets busted for having a dog in her dorm.

Why is Puddles sniffing the sofa? Is he going to surprise the ladies by marking the sofa?

Hmmm. . . A small flier without a picture of Puddles, without any contact info, and just the words “Lost Dog,” almost buried underneath a mountain of other fliers that are more important to other students.

I’m just a crazy old evil COFFEE drinker.

But if your gonna post a notice on the dorm bulletin board about finding a stray pooch, then Bets might as well post it on her social media thing.

Either way, someone is going to figure out that somebody is harboring a pet in dorm in defiance of the “No dorm pets” policy. At least with Bets’ way, Pud will be reunited with his owners quicker.

At least Stef is making a feeble attempt to find Pud’s owners……,

My observations (for what it’s worth) Feb 14 – Do not see a collar. Feb 16 – Puddles tied to Shannon’s wagon. Not sure if it was tied to a collar or if all of that was what she put on him. Third panel – no Puddles. Feb 19 – Puddles back but don’t see any collar on him. Feb 20 – Don’t see a collar. Feb 23 – He goes through the fence. Looks like a collar stuck on the fence. Feb 24 – Definitely a collar on the fence. Feb 25 – None of her pictures show a collar on Puddles. March 3 – Stef saying: I so want him! Stef intends to keep him. Could be she really cares or maybe just the excitement of breaking dorm rules. The notice on bulletin board unlikely to be seen since it’s placed partially behind another posting. Although that one is for a car and has one phone number tab removed so maybe there’s hope someone will notice. Many posters here have said that the logical thing to do is put up flyers where she found him and take him to a vet to see if he’s chipped. That didn’t seem to go over well with Stef.

I wonder how long it will be before Puddles return to his home. This could be a really long arc, but as long as Tiffany comes back, Bets tells Gunther that her roommate found a dog or Dez remembers where she saw him before and this will end up. Luann will never forget the pain and the fear of losing Puddles. I like this arc.

Doesn’t appear from a distance Steffi or Bets left a description of Puddles. Possibly Tiffany could notice the notice. Dez may think about the chip. But wait ’til they see who the “bad” owner is.

My guess is that unless there is a mirror on the bulletin board, Tiffany won’t notice. Gunther is more likely to figure it out.

Poor Puddles. He’s so scared and confused when he doesn’t have Luann beside him.

I believe that that is Tiffany’s “helmet hair” coming around the corner? Not that she’ll see that tiny lost dog notice buried on the board, and with no picture attached, who would figure it out anyway?

It’s a very good facsimile of a dorm bulletin board.

There are a few different ways this thing can to. This goes in to next week where these two ditzy, self-righteous/centered s**tsticks find out who Puddle’s owners are and try to raise some kind of legal stink about them being “bad owners” …. or …. we’re left hanging for a month or so when the writers switch to another arc, then come back to these two ditzy, self-righteous/centered etc., etc. ………

Bets should know about chipping, and she’s the social media queen. Her first thought should have been posting about a friend finding a lost dog.

What’s Dez off doing? Off seeking the Telic Cosmic Intent that sent Puds to them?

And where’s Tiff? The fourth leg of this quadriditzys!

Where will this arc lead? If Puds is restored to the DeGroots, and we know he will be, to whom will Luann be grateful? Will it be an existing character? Dez? Stef? Bets? Tiff? Or will it be some new as yet to be seen character? And how would Luann react in gratitude to any of these? Hmmmmm…

Tif; even if you don’t know about “chipping” dogs (cats, etc.) why would you post a notice on the dorm bulletin board? Why assume that the dog you found belongs to a student. I presume that the others have the intelligence to post notices around where Tif found Puddles, and, use other methods to locate her, and, reunite her and Puddles.

We need Bernice or Gunther to stop by the dorm suite. Either of them would recognize Puddles.

How many degrees of separation is Stef from Luann?

There is a lost dog notice in the bottom right-hand corner in bright white

They need to get food, a water bowl, a collar and a leash. They have no idea when the dog ate last. Are they going to give him a name?

Stef the airhead not even aware most dogs are chipped.

What’s up with the weird shadows?

A lot of people are suggesting checking if Puddles is chipped. Just wondering, if it’s so easy to chip an animal, why can’t they chip babies before they leave the hospital? Think of all the future problems this would avoid. No more lost kids. No more kidnappings. No more divorced parents “stealing” their noncustodial children. No more unsolved disappearances or murders. No more runaways. Just thinking outloud.

Makes no sense. You post the notice where you find the animal. Not the MILES away where you drove the animal.

Puddles will be back home by next Saturday. Stef and Bets will quickly tire of the work involved in taking care of a dog. They may actually look for the owner by Wednesday.

Good luck with that! If he’s staying a secret by not posting online, how is he staying a secret by memo post? Waiting for Dez’s cosmic aura to come through. That has as much of a chance as a note on that bulletin board! =8-o Come on Gunther or Tiffany!!

Whoa! I just noticed Stef isn’t wearing her cheerleading outfit. Don’t think I’ve ever seen her wear anything but that.

Oh no. I just realized there is a possibility that this whole storyline is set up so that Luann can become friends with Stef and Bets. That means we’ll be seeing even more of th— NO.

How does Bet’s not know whose dog this is? Shes been over to Luanns enough times to have met Puddles.

Traumatized into thinking he is a cat, Puddles is now trying to claw the furniture.

Someone probably already said it, but hopefully Tiff or Gunther recognize Puddles and return him to Luann…this is a time Bernice could come to the rescue…or Puddly-Pooh wanders off and finds Jack. The possibilities are endless. Here’s a thought…since that bulletin board is a disaster, post some “found” signs with Puddles picture. Luann can post some “lost” posters ‘duh. And how about calling the animal shelter and reporting it? When our puppy got out, the first thing we did was call the shelter, then posted “lost” posters everywhere and knocked on doors. The shelter’s information was updated every 24 hours, so we had to wait…it was grueling…but our boy knew just where to go. He went to the school where kids were playing and they took him to the principle. We’re we ever glad to get our boy back. My hubby immediately reinforced the area between the ground and fence to prevent our little escape artist from roaming about.

Another week of this arc! Luann will get Puddles back next Saturday!

Where’s Tiffany? She should recognize Puddles!

This will all blow over once Tiffany sees Puddles …. wait, does she know Puddles?

Everyone knows Stef is brainless, but Bets isn’t looking so intelligent herself. She’s assuming Puddles “ran away from home.” Animals do wander off sometimes, and get lost, unfortunately. Oh, and Bets? Did Puddles remove his own collar before he “ran away from home?”

Yeah, these two mental giants see a well-fed, well cared for animal like Puddles, and they immediately assume he had “bad owners,” and had to “run away.”

I know this is a comic strip and I have been reading it for years but the writing has become mediocre at best. This one takes the cake though. It’s really stupid. It’s 2022 and you’re going to tell me that these two dildettes don’t know what chipping is?!!! Yes, I’m old enough to say I’ve been reading this strip since almost the beginning. I’m a loyal Luann junkie and will keep reading but come on guys, let’s get a little more creative and are these people going to stay virgins forever; except the narcissistic cheerleader?

How will Puddles get reunited with the DeGroots?

(1) Will Dez finally remember why he seems familiar? (See strips of 2020/9/9-12.)

(2) Will Tiffany recognize him?

(3) Will Gunther (visiting Bets) recognize Puddles?

(4) Will Bernice (visiting Dez) recognize him?

(5) Will Puddles get loose again and find his own way home? (The fact that Frank saw Puddles in Stef’s car suggests that he may have been close to the DeGroots’ house when Stef picked him up.)

(6) Will Puddles get identified thanks to his microchip, for example because Kip suggests getting him scanned or because he gets loose again and someone else finds him and gets him scanned? (I’ll go out on a limb and favor this outcome, since it would be very much in character for the Evanses to have the arc end up as a PSA for pet chipping.)

(7) …?

(8) …?

(Infinity) Will he never get reunited with the DeGroots? (While that sort of thing happens all too often in real life, I think it’s quite unlikely to be the direction the authors are going with this story line.)

(Infinity plus one) Will he somehow get identified thanks to somebody who reads the notice on the bulletin board in panel 3 and who also happens to have heard about Luann’s missing dog?

We all know Puddles will be re-united with LuAnn. But the arc still has a few strips left in it.

Hope Puddles pees on her leg….

Stef may be unaware that she’s dissing Luann. “Bad owner” indeed!

To their credit, Stef and Bets are at least trying to do the Right Thing. But that bulletin board notice is likely to remain unnoticed in the clutter, and is in any case not very specific (there must be more than one “lost dog” in Pitts). Besides, Luann would probably not even glance at the bulletin board even if she did happen to walk past it!

I hope Stef and Bets treat their new doggy well!

Can’t hate on Stef this time, much as I want to. Most college bulletin boards I know look like this too. Could be that at the time Stef’s notice was in plain view, but it really doesn’t take long at all to get it cluttered by what other people…ah, who’m I kidding? what other KIDS….think is more important.

Since when is Puddles brown?? At least since 2008 when the color spec sheet was made for United Features.

I still can’t believe that these educated women haven’t thought of going to the animal shelter to check if the “lost puppy” has a microchip.

The notice says lost dog, not found dog. They can’t even get the note correct.
