Rather than explain that Piro doesn’t want to be bothered just go on about how incredibly lame this puppet play idea is. It’s so Kindergarten level thinking.
I told Greg in the survey that Bern would tell Luann about Piro. But I meant that she would keep the conversation brief and relevant, so Lu would not drive Piro over the edge…
In my extended family there’s a 35-year-old woman whose mind is stuck at ten years old, and she still comes across as more mature and adult than Luann. What is going on with G&K where they think this is normal?
Bernice would not need to reveal any confidential information whatsoever if she would merely contradict Luann outright by answering her “Piro will love this!” with a straightforward statement “No, Piro will absolutely hate this!” “I can’t tell you anything about what he shared with me, but your approach and attitude toward him are entirely wrongheaded. Stop it! Stop it now! You’re just pushing him away; and so is Tara.” That would be the counsel of a friend.
When I had graduated high school and got a job my parents took me and my maternal Grandmother up to Eureka Springs AR. Spent the night and next morning went for breakfast at a little diner that had a puppet suspended from the ceiling on small, thin springs. As I went by it I raised it up a little and let go. The springs resistance caused the legs to “walk” and the arms to wave around. Scared the living daylights out of the young child behind that I had not really noticed….(thought it was real)
What does that title even mean?Piro’s has told them that he wants to be alone and walked out on their ideas to cheer him up. Never do the two give him space to talk.
In th second picture I see only two puppet heads. One is Luann an the other one’s Piro. Do you think Bernice’ll have a fit if Luann makes th two puppets kiss?
Okay, this is definitely a bad idea and Bernice is right to stop Luann before she makes a fool of herself in front of Piro, ending up with him actually despising her. The thing that surprise me the most is how reluctant Bernice seems to be explain to Luann why her idea is wrong. After seeing her telling jokes that sound more like insults hundreds of times, telling her BFF that she’s making a mistake should be easy for her. The seriousness of Bernice’s face seems to precede an important speech and I like it a lot.
we have to realize Luann still thinks that being funny makes Piro feel better. At one point he said that to her but then she started going way overboard. He hasn’t told her that it’s becoming a real turn off. So now we get to this. Luann thinks she is helping; of course it looks absurd to us. Hopefully Bern will choose one of the other options on the poll that we took besides just telling all to Luann. Piro not only confided in her but has flirted and given hints that they could have a stronger relationship. That’s strong stuff and i don’t believe Bern wants to ruin all of that.
So much for being focused on Piro. She seems to be focused on her juvenile project and besting Tara. It’s amazing how quickly she pulled that together. Take it to Kids R Us. I hope Bernice can stop Luann without spilling the beans.
You can’t “fix” people who are depressed by trying to get them to laugh or smile. It’s an imbalance in the brain that has to work itself out through therapy, rx meds or time.
I think these two should go full Tom and Jerry to try to cheer Piro up. Suffering over the top comedically painful injuries has a chance to knock some sense into their heads.
I’m thinking that it will turn out that when Piro and Bernice were talking on the parlor couch, Nancy was in the adjacent kitchen, overhearing everything. She then tells Luann what really happened, and Bernice is saved from spilling the beans.

Interesting timing that Bernice is telling Luann, “The problem is YOU,” while Toby Keith is singing “You, you, you, you, you…” in another browser tab.

Yes Bernice. Why don’t you out on your muse outfit so you can tell Luann how clueless she is?

Like Tiffany, it looks like Bernice is finally growing up. Which is much more than could be said of Luann!!

I think that today, We have confirmation that Luann stayed at Kidz First entirely too long.
Luann?
Paper Puppet Shows are for six year olds, not brooding young adult males.
I can’t think of a single young adult male in this Strip, who would appreciate something like that except maybe Les.
Who’d say “Gee Thanks,” and quickly move on to something else while embracing the Wrong Idea.
OTOH, Luann is going to make a great mom some day.

Isn’t there a mature adult in the comic that can help Piro deal with his problems ?
Also, Bernice, Luann, and Tara need to “butt out”…
Their “help” isn’t helping… Nor is this arc funny by any definition of funny…

Maybe not, Bernice. The puppet show might take Piro out of himself and his troubles. Developing distance can be a good therapy.

I am never ever going to feel bad about ridiculing Luann’s stupid inept foolishness, because that is obviously what G&K want to have happen.
